A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE ALASKA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP LITTLE LEAGUE TEAM, THE FAIRBANKS LITTLE LEAGUE ALL-STARS
WHEREAS, the Fairbanks Little League All Stars won the Fairbanks, Regional, and State Championships in order to represent Alaska at the Western Regional Championship in San Bernardino, California; and
WHEREAS, the Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly has decided that the Fairbanks Little League All Stars sure know how to make things exciting and have demonstrated that they are the most “come-from-behind” team in the state; and
WHEREAS, in the first game, Fairbanks lost its chance for the Little League Western Region Championship by losing to Las Vegas, Nevada; and
WHEREAS, after that defeat, Fairbanks came back in the bottom of the sixth inning of the second game to score the winning run and defeat Colorado by a score of 2-1; and
WHEREAS, the Fairbanks Little League Team in the third game came back from a 0-5 deficit to lead 6-5 in the 5th inning and then suffered a heartbreaking defeat when a Wyoming player hit a two-out, two-strike home run in the top of the sixth inning to win the game; and
WHEREAS, in spite of the final results, the Fairbanks Little League Team well represented their home state of Alaska and the Fairbanks North Star Borough both on and off the field and the Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly is extremely proud of them.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly congratulates the Fairbanks Little League All Stars for winning the local and State Championships, for the job they did representing Alaska generally and Fairbanks specifically in San Bernardino, California, and for the will and determination they showed during their ball games.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly congratulates Donna Gilbert, President o the Fairbanks Little League, Ken Rankin, Manager of the Fairbanks Little League All Stars, Steve Shuttleworth, Coach, and the following members of the team:
